    A Very Merry Christmas

I have not posted much in the past few weeks, as I was busy knitting surprise Christmas gifts for my family, and since my sisters read this blog I needed to keep quiet.  Dan, Sofia and I went to Colorado for vacation with 2 sisters, spouses, nephew and my beautiful little niece.  We had such a good time.  And, true to form, I was finishing the last project on Christmas day, lovely mitts for Ria.  These will not be made again, except for one of my own progeny, a lot of fiddly work on small needles, and many many ends to weave in.  Love the butterflies, reminds me of Anita and Mom.

I also made 3 pairs of these fingerless mitts for Diane, Jill and Sofia.

Unfortunately I did not get photos of the other items.  All told there were 4 pairs of fingerless mitts (including the Ria Butterflies), 2 pairs of socks and 2 hats.  Diane and Jill, if you are reading this, I could use photos!

This is where we spent a lovely Christmas, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, enjoying the amazing natural springs with snow falling on us.  Historic Hotel Colorado decorated to the nines. Wonderful time.

And a wonderful, fun, over-the-top gift exchange in our hotel room.

Love Glenwood Springs! Tom and I celebrated our 10th anniversary there. A beautiful weekend some 23 years ago. That was when we first came to Denver and left East Coast and never looked back. Amazing how time flys.
That would be a great place for a Figg family reunion; maybe we can work on that idea for some years down the road?

A View into my Knitting World

Or, at least a view into my knitting room.   A space in progress, and almost complete.  Here was the previous view, the room does not have an outside window, but a window opening into the family room.  I placed blue glass jars along the edge to create more of a barrier, but knew that I wanted something else.

A couple of weeks ago I was at the ReUse Depot scoping it out to take my class there, and found some gorgeous art glass doors from interior cabinetry taken out of an older house.  I was pretty sure that they would fit, but put them on hold to measure.  And last weekend my husband and I installed them, I think that it is a good fit.  And creates the feeling of a barrier while being very open.

At the same time, I found 3 smaller doors that work well on the outside windows.  Here is the before photo.

    And after…

Lovely aren’t they?  Makes me wonder what the house was like, obviously Arts & Crafts.  There were a few more smaller ones, the built-in must have been gorgeous.  So sad to see lovely old homes destroyed. At least now the parts are recycled.
