Red wine, knitting & Husbands

This evening I am so mad.  I had a wonderful, wonderful day with one of my best friends.  I finished the first week of school, which I spent 40 hours on as a part time coordinator.  Thursday is my Friday.  So, today a beautiful day, and I had lunch with 2 good friends, help shopping for my new glasses, and ended the day with wine and 4 friends in my back yard.  Just how I needed to end a very stressful week.

After everyone left we were cleaning up the kitchen, and getting dinner ready. My husband asked me if everything was in from the back yard, and I said yes, except my knitting, and I was going back out. Not hearing me correctly, he decided to bring my knitting in with my glass of red wine.  You all know where this is going…

A few weeks of knitting with spots of red wine all over it.  I tried in desperation to clean it.  And in the process I broke a circular knitting needle.  Not a happy camper here, and I am still not sure the the project is salvageable.  Not the way to end the week.

In the spirit of trying to make some thing good out of this, and stop being so mad, I am going to post how to get red wine out of knitting.  Be warned, it does not always work and I will post whether my attempts did or not.

  • Blot.  First blot up the wine.  But you knitters know, that yarn will soak up the wine like a sponge.
  • Oxo Brite.  This has always been my go-to for cleaning up wine or any stains.  Of course, we are completely out.  I went on Amazon immediately to order some, it will take a couple of days to get here.  If you do get this on your stain right away, it turns purple, then washes out.  Even if it and old stain, this often works wonders.  Pray for me.oxo-brite.jpg
  • Club soda.  I tried it, fades a bit, but still not gone.
  • Salt.  Rub into the wet garment and then let dry.  This was my last resort, I am hoping that it works.

Future orders.  Leave my knitting wherever it is unless I ask you to do something with it.

I am consoling myself with more red wine and chocolate ice cream.
